A good place to let your kids get lost in
Interesting to see this environment in this area. Some neat differences in the forest, especially if you take the green-blazed Whip-poorwill Way trail on the way back to make it a little more of a figure-8 and less lollipop. The area that this hike is in--north of Helmetta Blvd--seems like a safe place to encourage kids to get lost in the woods. There are not many of those around these days. There are several deer trails and some unmarked ATV paths. The area is well bounded by other roads, so you can always find their way back around if you get totally lost. This is an updated link to the park page, which has an updated map: http://www.middlesexcountynj.gov/About/ParksRecreation/Pages/PR/Jamesburg-Park-CA.aspx Thank you for making us aware of this park. This is not an amazing hike, but it's certainly a nice stroll.
